CHALLENGE
Our client has been trusted to produce high-quality managed IT outsourcing solutions to international customers for over 25 years. Having recently signed an agreement with a refinery customer located in a US territory, our client needed a leadership resource to help transition the refinery to their managed service platform, build local and remote support teams, manage onsite leadership expectations, integrate two distinct organizational cultures, and initiate the build-out of the long-term security program. To compound the complexity of this challenge, a resource that could spend most of transition onsite with their customer in addition to straddling leadership and tactical capabilities was required and the turnaround time between the contract being signed and the kick-off of the project was short.
SOLUTION
NB Business Solutions moved into action and quickly built a strategic roadmap focused on transitioning from traditional onsite support to outsourced managed solutions. Working with local leadership and team members, we began building trust with the local team members while introducing enhanced technical capabilities and overcoming legacy technological debt. We assumed the role of Program Manager, IT Manager to both onsite and remote team members, and Security Lead to execute against our roadmap and restored business confidence in the operations and security teams.
RESULTS
By working closely with the executive and IT teams, understanding both company cultures, and looking at the challenge from a holistic viewpoint, NB Business Solutions was able to complete the initial migration to managed IT services on time and within budget. We successfully transitioned from onsite support to a 100% outsourced IT managed service solution, established an enterprise cybersecurity program, onboarded local members of the technology team, and aligned with business leaders across the organization to ensure the company’s IT department was a trusted business asset. NB Business Solutions continues to partner and consult with our client on multiple large-scale enterprise engagements.
